Namaste!
Silicon Village Computer Centre is a non-profit organisation (registration number 88/2067/2068) which aims to provide computer and multimedia training to Nepali communities. We are based in Bachhauli, Nepal, a village near the beautiful Chitwan National Park. Our goal is to provide affordable training to local people, especially members of disadvantaged groups who wouldn't otherwise have access to technology. We also want to build up easily accessible, affordable communication services.
We have been active since 2005 and have already trained with success more than 300 young Nepali since then. Hard work has been done and much more remains to do, but perspectives are very good: ICT and mutimedia skills are increasingly sought-after also in Nepal regarding working opportunities. And we are proud to tell: There is much emerging talent among our young (and less young) Nepali!
This site wants to inform you about our project, the Silicon Village Computer Centre: Our history and present situation, how we work, who we are, and our plans for the near and more distant future.
